Simple Process of SLM

Create 3D model

Engineer the part in 3D model software. Cooling channels can follow any 3D curve.

Slice into layers

Software slices the model into a stack of ~30–50 μm horizontal cross-sections and prepares the scan path for each layer.

Laser scans layer by layer

A high-power fiber laser traces each cross-section on a fresh bed of metal powder, fusing the geometry of that single layer.

Metal powder melts & fuses

Powder around the laser spot absorbs energy and melts, then solidifies as the laser moves on. Layer N+1 is deposited on top of layer N, building the part from the bottom up.
